2:00-3:45 Featured Event: Staged Reading and Discussion of The Sweet New
The Sweet New follows three generations of an Italian-American family as they navigate emigration, assimilation, and transformation. Who is allowed to call themselves American? What is identity? What must you overcome to realize your vision of who you really are? The Sweet New explores the journey to becoming one’s true self.
The Sweet New was written by MSU-Moorhead Film Professor Raymond Rea as a commission of Theatre B, and premiered April 2016 in Fargo, ND. Rea is a former member of the IFO GLBTA Issues Committee and the 2016 recipient of the James Eric Chalgren Award for his work on GLBT issues within MnSCU.
Today's staged reading features ensemble actors from Theatre B. Craig Ellingson, current MSU-Moorhead representative to the IFO GLBTA Issues Committee, is the Production Coordinator.
